How to Care For Giant Betta Fish?

Caring for these big bettas is pretty much the same as caring for standard bettas. But we must consider their ultimate size when choosing a fish aquarium. The tank for a lone giant betta should be at least 5 gallons. The rule of thumb for just about all aquarium fish is at least 1 gallon per 1 inch of fish. Water should always be treated with a water conditioner before placing it in your betta tank. An aquarium heater is recommended for bettas to keep the water temperature within the ideal range. Offer your betta decor they can hide in. Live and silk plants and other decor that lacks sharp and uneven edges that can damage delicate fins are best. Read more about betta fish care

Just like standard bettas, male giant bettas should be housed alone or with compatible species of fish in a larger tank. Female giant bettas can be housed in a sorority aquarium with other female bettas or can be in a tank with other companion fish. Popular companion fish include cory catfish, neon other non aggressive tetras, guppies, harlequin rasboras, kuhli loaches, and plecos. Other good tank mates for bettas include african dwarf frogs, ghost shrimp, and zebra snails. Male and female bettas can be housed together successfully but considerations for potential breeding must be made. When pairing bettas with any other fish, caution should always be observed.
